Anycubic Vyper Specification

Overview

There's a Bowden extruder inside.

This Bowden extruder means that the extruder is mounted on the frame of the actual printer rather than the tip. The filament then travels through a PTFE tube to reach the hot end, and out onto the print.

Performance

The printer can use Volcano nozzles.

The usable filament diameter is a 1.75 mm diameter.

There are 1 extruders in the printer. Having more than one extruder attached to the printer can help you print material faster, as the printer can focus on multiple elements at once.

The recommended maximum printing speed is 180 mm/s. This printing speed can affect the quality of the print, so make sure this speed falls within ranges you would like.

You'll get a 245 mm x 245 mm x 260 mm in the Anycubic Vyper, so make sure everything you want to print fits in this. You can make do by making your print in pieces, and then assembling, however, sometimes you'll just need a larger build area.

The build plate is made from Flexible Steel Plate.

Strong Performance from a Robust Machine

I was impressed with the overall experience of using the Anycubic Vyper, and I have no doubt that this printer will find its niche among users interested in printing parts for production or simply just printing large volume parts. The solid build construction and fast set up time make it ideal for setting up a fleet of these machines quickly, or just for a fun weekend project.

If you're new to 3D printing and have been wanting to get into it, the Anycubic Vyper is going to be the first one recommended. Getting auto-bed leveling, a filament sensor, a nice build plate, and a pretty big build volume for only $359.99, you really can't go wrong. It may be a little loud, and accuracy isn't the best on the smallest details, but otherwise it's one of the best printers you can get for the price.

Anycubic's modestly priced Vyper whips up large 3D prints on its open-frame design, and provides automatic print-bed leveling. Just know that some minor assembly is required—and printed objects may require a bit of cleanup. The Anycubic Vyper is a step up from the company's Mega S, with a larger print area and support for automatic print-bed leveling. Its basic setup is easy, although you will need to tweak a couple of settings to get Cura software to work with the Vyper. It's a good choice for a user with some experience with 3D printing who is looking to try his or her hand at larger prints.

Unfortunately, the Vyper is held back by a string of issues. Underwhelming print default print quality, questionable durability of the coating on the removable print bed, comical (we hope) manufacturing errors or design choices on peripheral features like the tool drawer, and a general sense that the printer is not the fire-and-forget upgraded experience you would expect, severely hold it back. We can’t review multiple examples of a printer to get an average experience, but hope that our Vyper is not indicative of the whole lot. Proceed with caution – we’d balk at $359 spent on the printer we’ve been testing.

There is a lot to love about the Anycubic Vyper. It's well made, fast, and prints really well. I just wish Anycubic did more to support it on the software side. While the lack of a solid slicer profile gives the Vyper a steeper learning curve than others, it is a solid machine for the price tag and a worthy addition to any workshop.

For a sensible price, the Anycubic Vyper is a breeze to get up and running even if you’re a 3D printing novice. It’s reliable, too.

The ideal first 3D printer: easy to assemble, all the features you’d want and reliable print quality. If you’re after a budget 3D printer and are happy to pay a bit more than the absolute cheapest amount possible, then the Vyper is well worth your money. Its auto-levelling bed, great touchscreen and solid build quality make it excellent value and an ideal first 3D printer.

If the world of 3D printing ever seemed too intimidating for you, look no further than the AnyCubic Vyper. While perfect for beginners with its auto-leveling feature and minimal assembly, seasoned printing hobbyists will also appreciate what it can offer, albeit with a few adjustments. 3D printing is a skill that needs to be nurtured regardless of the great auto-leveling feature, so while you'll still need to put in some practice to get the best possible results from your prints, AnyCubic has taken out most of the boring setup for you. Seasoned printing hobbyists will be able to appreciate just how quickly they can get the Vyper up and running with minimal fuss, and allows newcomers to improve their software-based skills rather than have to mess around with the physical machine.

The Anycubic Vype was enjoyable. The printer performed well during testing and all the extra upgraded parts it uses make it an excellent option for beginners who are looking for a good printer and don’t want to mess with upgrading a cheaper printer in the future. Having the auto bed leveling sensor in the hotend makes tramming the bed a thing of the past, while also providing consistent readings. I don’t trust most of my printers enough to start a print and leave the room without checking the first layer. But with the Vyper, there was no need for any adjustments after the first setup. Really consistent results when it comes to leveling. The print quality is good for all the filaments tested, even with ABS which is sometimes harder to print without an enclosure. PLA can be printed fast, without worrying that the part cooling can’t handle the speed. Good part cooling also allows the Vyper to handle steep overhangs with ease. The magnetic PEI sheet print surface is excellent, even though it feels a bit less resilient compared to Energetic sheets.

For us, the Vyper is a fine 3D printer with a few kinks that users need to account for. Additionally, Anycubic could improve quality control. Granted, these issues aren’t bad enough missteps to warrant a poor rating. On the whole, the Vyper is a superb printer that might have been perfect if a little more attention was paid to the details.
