Overview

There's a Bowden extruder inside.

This Bowden extruder means that the extruder is mounted on the frame of the actual printer rather than the tip. The filament then travels through a PTFE tube to reach the hot end, and out onto the print.

Performance

The usable filament diameter is a 1.75 mm diameter.

The recommended maximum printing speed is 200+ mm/s. This printing speed can affect the quality of the print, so make sure this speed falls within ranges you would like.

You'll get a 178 mm x 178 mm x 178 mm in the Original Prusa MINI, so make sure everything you want to print fits in this. You can make do by making your print in pieces, and then assembling, however, sometimes you'll just need a larger build area.

The 3D printer to buy on a budget

The Prusa Mini is now my go-to recommendation for anyone on a budget. The print quality is as good as printers twice the price, and it prints brilliantly out of the box. I have been amazed at the Prusa Mini performance, and you will be too. You'll need to order it soon, though, as they take a little while to arrive.

It requires assembly and calibration care (plus shipping from the Czech Republic), but the Original Prusa Mini is a compact, open-frame 3D printer that consistently produces superb-quality output for a great price.

Original Prusa MINI 3D Printer In-Depth Review

The 3D printer has hit the market by promoting itself as the printer for beginners with an affordable price tag. Hence, there are few features that you may find missing when compared to its predecessor, the MK3S. Such as the filament sensor, the smooth PEI as well as the textured powder-coated steel sheets. However, these can be included by paying during the purchase. Keeping these minor changes apart, the printer offers great value for money with its amazing print results and reliability.

Can the new Prusa MINI go head to head with the larger Original Prusa i3 MK3s?

The Original Prusa MINI is simply the best 3D printer available. It's not just a matter of price but convenience and ease of use. The small size and robust build make it easy to transport, but it's the print quality the shines through with the results being as good as any FFF printer out there. That's the great thing about PRUSA printers, they adapt and enable you to improve them over time. For the price, you get an incredible amount; this is by no means a budget 3D printer, it's a true entry-level printer that should be the first choice for crafters, modellers and engineering enthusiasts. There is very little to fault with this compact machine.
